BBK bio airclean A/S was founded in 1992 with the object of developing and producing an environmentally-friendly, biological air cleaning method which efficiently converts odour polluted air to water and CO2. The solution was a new development of a familiar principle: Biological filters.
The demands on the filters were extensive.
These were:
- A high degree of purification
- Long service life
- Homogeneous filter media
- Optimum microbiological growth
- Tolerance to changes in temperature and pH-values
- Possibility of pH-adjustment
- Survival during periods of shut-down
- Control of the humidity in the filter media
In co-operation with Biotechnological Institute in Kolding a large number of tests with various combinations of micro-organisms and filter mixtures were carried out, until an efficient, durable and replicable combination was found.
Obviously BBK constantly seek to optimize the filters and since the first generation of filter media, a number of improvements in homogeneity, porosity and micro biology have been made.
The objective is to improve the environment around air-polluting companies - primarily in the organic industry - efficiently, biologically and economically without creating waste problems.
